Hans-Peter Tschudi, a prominent Swiss politician from Basel, died on September 30, 2002. He served on the Swiss Federal Council from 1959 to 1973, heading the Department of Home Affairs, and before that was part of the Cantonal Government of Basel-City and represented the canton in the Swiss Council of States.
