In May 2026, EuroAirport Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg recorded 309,955 passengers, 1,067.5 metric tons of cargo, and 2,595 flight movements.

Compared to historical values for the month of May, passenger numbers were well below the average of 555,097 and far below the May maximum of 874,241, but above the May minimum of 1,719. Flight movements were also below the May average of 6,359 and the May maximum of 9,339, but above the May minimum of 2,469. Cargo volume was essentially at the historical May minimum of 1,068 tons and far below the May average of 4,729 tons and the May maximum of 5,993 tons.

When compared to all-time monthly records, May 2026 set an all-time low for cargo, with 1,067.5 tons being the lowest monthly cargo volume ever recorded at the airport. The all-time high for cargo was 6,770 tons in March 2022. For passengers, the all-time high was 1,010,155 in August 2025, and the all-time low was 1,177 in April 2020. For flights, the all-time high was 9,600 in June 2019, and the all-time low was 1,035 in April 2020.

The significantly reduced passenger and flight numbers, and the record low cargo volume, are explained by the closure of the main runway for renovation from April 16 to May 20, 2026. During this period, flight operations were handled via the secondary runway, leading to a reduced but still operational schedule focused on key European business and city destinations as well as selected holiday routes.
