On 2026-10-20, the Rhine at Basel-Kleinhüningen recorded an average daily discharge of 372 m³/s, among the lowest since 2020 and only slightly above the record-low October monthly minimum. These low water levels raise transport costs, degrade water quality, stress aquatic life, and restrict cooling, water supply, irrigation, and groundwater along the river.
